Special edition animated skins and few other goodies are going to be released for Batman’s Arkham City ,Weitall Reports
“Dark nights with the Dark Knights”
Fanboys and gamers will have a field day when the highly anticipated sequel to 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum drops Oct. 18, 2011.
In a month filled with high profile titles, this Paul Dini penned opus is maintaining its high buzz value as trailers, screens and big name voice actors are continually being announced. Kevin Conroy– the only voice that I will truly recognize as the dark knight– will reprise his role as the caped crusader. Animated Series and video game veteran Mark Hamil will return as an ailing Joker as one of a multitude of villains who have claimed Gotham City as their own.
For die hard comic fans, James Horan will voice Jack Ryder giving some hope of a Creeper appearance. Series stalwart Arleen Sorkin has vacated the Harlequin role to Tara Strong, a good choice but lacking the same sentimental punch Sorkin had.
Gamers will also be given the chance to explore character driven slices of a Gotham descended into chaos. The villain that controls that sector of the city will have their own flair and style to that section of the now lost city. This will force players to team up with Bane this time around in a series of events that leads these two to intercept a shipment of chemicals coming into the harbor.
The game will have a virtual footprint five times larger than the last. Ensuring plays tons of game time and replay value. This also forces players to think and move like the dark knight in their throughout the city.
The Batman will tussle with Hugo Strange this time around and he’ll be able to do so in style. Various pre order bonuses and DLC content will open up Bruce Wayne’s wardrobe.
Available is Batman Beyond’s full body suit complete with red emblem, but will it have rocket thrusters? You can also take on the city as an aged grizzled Batman from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.
Jim Aparo gets a nod with a 1970’s inspired blue, gray and yellow costume. Fans of the animated series also get to don the series costume with triangle white eyes and beak nose. The game also lets you use the current David Finch designed suit from DC comics.
Even Robin gets a few costume choices in the new game. You can chose his classic animated style from the Bruce Timm series. You can also rock the Arkham City look or his current continuity Red Robin costume. Could we see DLC with his new Red Robin persona from the DC relaunch in the works?
Collectors can also purchase a special edition which will cost $99 dollars and feature custom Batman statue produced by Kotobukiya. An art book and collectable cards will also be packed in. It also gives players access to the Penguin’s night club the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns skin regardless of where you get the game. An original soundtrack and Batman: Gotham knight will be included in the package.
This is a pretty neat package and is just helping gamers and fans alike loosen their wallets in a month that could end up bankrupting the pockets of gamers. I know I preordered my copy. Have you? -Weitall-
