Hello blacrenderers Big June from bklyn back at your digital doorstep with another installment intended on elevating your inbox inertia. This time is the day and age of doing it digital! Everything is online. The problem plays in when people forget that friends, family, and other peoples feelings are on the other side of that clickety clacking keyboard.
I’d like to share one of my facebook fiasco’s that foiled a longtime friendship of over ten years. A friend I’ve know since 2nd grade states in an update that he hates his co-worker. Being an avid FB Confucius, I commented that “when you judge others you don’t define them you define yourself”. This lead to a tirade of personal insults toward me in a public forum which is readable by many mutual friends and family members. Long story short I had to address him face to face to remind him that he shouldn’t say stuff to people online that he would never say in person.
But a lot of people feel that the internet is some virtual world that doesn’t hold real consequence, like an online version of PS2’s “Grand Theft Auto” series. At least until somebody knocks on their door reminding them that all their Info is online including their home address and current employer.
The internet is only a means by which we exchange information, not an imaginary world where there is no real backlash for what you say and do. This really should be common knowledge at this point with all the “Wiener’s” who got fired for not realizing that what you do online has offline consequences.
So remember people, it’s not only you who can suffer from your online “Over-Activity”, but your loved ones as well.
