(I.A.A.) Instagram Addicts Anonymous

Big June from Bklyn here, and recently I’ve been angled towards one focus, Instagram. Picture This, you are locked outside the box, Unable to take a bite of the Apple. So many of your friends are posting pix of their boring lives made to look exciting through a lo-fi filter with boarders and bold colors of ancient times. You’re blurred out of center frame because your phone’s otherwise super phenomenal operating system doesn’t have that particular app. Imagine the setting frame by sanctimonious frame, These Siri enslaving, miniature screen loving, 4S’er, supper obsessed with mediocrity had something over me, I mean you, and although I snubbed my nose at the idea of downloading an app to do stuff to my pix that my phone already has settings to do. This time I was mistaken, this time things were different.

As much of the free world already knows, Instagram is a photo editing application originally  launched in October 2010  for  exclusive  use on  iPhone. There are well over 100 million users not counting the Million users that signed up within the first 12hrs of the android app becoming avail on Google play, which was shortly after Facebook acquired Instagram for a cool billion in cash and stock.

 WHY SO MANY USERS?

Instagram is wonderful for several different reasons.

First:   Many artist are using Instagram as the art gallery of the future. Artist from all  over the world are posting their pictures. Amateur artist, longtime photogs wanting to revitalize their exposure, or promote a new exhibit or even artist who can’t find a gallery and want to get their work seen. Now there is a program called  instacanv.as where you can sell your artwork directly from Instagram and people will recieve the artwork in the mail ready to hang. Everybody in the art world is looking at Instagram to see who is the new who?  The Huffington Post  recently posted an article about the Recent Instagram exhibit at The W hotel. That was the first exhibit  in New York but Instagram exhibits have popped up all over the world in places like Hong Kong and London.

Secondly: Instagram has like a million plug-ins. Everybody and their mother, wanted to make compatible programs with Instagram. Because Instagram is a phone application, independent companies decided to make the program available on your mac/pc.  my personal favorite if statigram which allows you to see your  pictures, check your feed, comment on photos and it gives you statistics on your photo’s performance on instagram as well as tips on tagging and which filters are most popular.

Thirdly:   it’s the new twitter,  if you are looking for popularity and want people to know what you are doing 24/7, Instagram is yet another way of  reaching the masses. Artist and Celebrities alike can amass thousands of followers.

I’m addicted honestly I find myself missing deadlines because I’m trying to get that perfect shot or even trying to edit my photos to include parts of the shot which I feel enhances it the most. Whatever your reason for Joining Instagram I suggest you do it and have some fun.

If you have used Instagram and don’t agree with it, Love it and love to share your experience, or maybe you have never used it and never, will share your thoughts in the comments section below
