Hello Blacren-eites, it’s Big June from B’klyn and on July 15th I watched the debut of a new series on the USA network called “Political Animals”. USA has been notorious in the past few years for grinding out TV series that have characters with… well… character. with shows like Burn Notice, Suits, White Collar, and Necessary Roughness. The latest member to the line up of, shows with people you can relate to in real life, is the Political Drama staring Sigourney Weaver titled Political Animals.
In my opinion Political Animals is loosely based on the life of the Clinton Family post Barack Obama, particularly Hilary Clinton played by Weaver. The show follows the life of Elaine Barrish, the ex-wife of an ex-President (Bud Hammonds) who tried to run for president herself, but was beat out by her party’s other nominee and then asked to be Secretary of State. Sound Familiar? Yeah that’s what I thought too.
What I will say is that this show has a lot of character, which is normally the USA Network’s M.O. You have the homosexual drug addict son, along with his do the right thing hard to live up to the same standards brother. The womanizing ex -husband of 30 years who’s been hailed as the best President since the Kennedy Administration and still called upon to put out political fires (Elaine still loves him by the way), and the no holds barred tell it like it is Mother who helps keep her grounded. Political Animals is definitely a drama that you’ll enjoy watching and I suggest you set your DVR or watch it On -Demand as soon as you get the chance.
