DJ Duane Harriott Does It For The Love

Big June from B’klyn here, bringing you the Blacren version of behind the Music. Dj Duane Harriott is one of the DJ’s whose music playlist is featured in several Blacren articles. I decided to have a verbal Jam session with Dj Duane and give our audience some background to the Man who makes the magic happen.

Duane Harriot grew up in Nebraska after being born in NYC.  Most Native New Yorker’s  hustle and Duane does just that. With his own production company (with hits for Jennifer lopez under their belt), he still makes the bulk of his earnings DJ-ing around the city. Duane returned to his place of birth in the mid 90′s only to find it’s a proverbial breeding ground for hungry entrepreneurial brother’s and sister’s (the Clinton years) he used the momentum from his success in Nebraska to connect with like-minded individuals and Catapult into his career of 15yrs. Growing up with celebrity family Members (including Jamaican soul singer Derrick Harriott) seemed to give Duane that same confidence, drive, and longlasting love for the music as his predecessors like his uncle (who still performs to this day). Duane’s story is not unfamiliar to people who are business savvy but chase the dream and not the money, you have ups and downs but somehow you end up exactly where you want to be… doing what you love and getting paid for it.
