Vintage Denzel Washington in Glory

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 ENTERTAINMENT

GLORY: Denzel Washington’s performance as the runaway slave Trip who enlists in the all Black 54th regiment during the Civil War, is one of his best performances (He won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor).

His character displayed  willpower that couldn’t be broken, and was a testament to the struggles of this period. Peep this particular part  of the scene when Trip’s about to receive his lashes for running away.

Trip raises his arms so his rags can drop and spits on the ground in defiance  ready to receive his beating with Dignity ; Truly a great performance.

Scene Analysis: TROY

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 ENTERTAINMENT

I’ve been watching a lot of film lately, mainly Sci Fi, Fantasy and Action. These are genres I enjoyed growing up and gravitated to in Film School.

Troy , while not  the epic it set out to be, had one of the best fight scenes of 2004. This scene pits Achilles played by Brad Pitt against Hector (Eric Bana) .
Critics buried the movie based on the success of Gladiator but any filmmaker would appreciate the technicalities involved in creating a fight scene the captures the essence of fluidity and pacing.

The Choreography,Editing and Sound Design is on point. -Setty Mac-

Francis Ford Coppola’s Tetro looks amazing  with it’s  homage to film noir, Vincent Gallo, Maribel Verdú, and Alden Ehrenreich stars in the film. -Setty Mac-
“I feel like I’m doing what I wanted to do when I was 18,” says Coppola of 2007’s YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH and the forthcoming TETRO. “As a young man I had an old man’s career; now maybe as an old man I can have a young man’s career.”
