Scott Listfield is known for his paintings featuring a lone exploratory astronaut lost in a landscape  cluttered with pop culture icons, corporate logos, and tongue-in-cheek science fiction references.

Scott studied art at Dartmouth College, which was maybe not the brightest thing to do. After some time spent abroad, he returned to America only to find it a bewildering place. Around the year 2001, Scott began painting astronauts and, sometimes, dinosaurs.

He now lives in Somerville, MA with  his wife and longtime accomplice Joanna. (more…)

The Artwork of Steve Hanks

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009 ART

Steve Hanks is recognized as one of the best watercolor artists working today. The detail, color and realism of Steve Hanks’ paintings are unheard of in this difficult medium. A softly worn patterned quilt, the play of light on the thin veil of surf on sand, or the delicate expression of a child—-Steve Hanks captures these patterns of life better than anyone.-Steve Hank’s Website-

Super Analog: The Artwork of Dane Lovett

Monday, March 9th, 2009 ART

Dane Lovett: His artwork reminds me of Mix-Tapes, putting tissue paper in the holes of the cassette to record over last months DJ Red Alert Show on Kiss FM.  Seeing my dad fiddling with his new Betamax Player only to toss it in the closet a year later, VHS won the format war. Recording the Transformers episode, “The Return of Optimus Prime” on WPIX Channel 11, It’s just before Voltron I’d never make it home in time. Plotting my travel home, damn the C train is local. The chances of me getting my  Sherling Bomber Jacket stolen are now doubled( It took my mom 2 months of Lay-Away Payments to get it for me).Fuck that I’m gonna wait for the A train!, it’s express straight to Nostrand Ave. and I don’t want to miss Video Music Box with Ralph McDaniels.
